(Updated June 6, 2008) Spring is in the Air - Come See What is New at the Clan of the Hawk We're changing this page for the summer so you don't miss the special things that are going on! First: We have been gifted with an amazing HAND MADE, FULLY BEADED, Beeeeuuuutifullll Abenaki Hood and Wrap Around skirt -(one size fits all). We have decided to have a raffle for this lovely traditional garment. Tickets will be 5.00 each and the profits will ALL go directly to the museum and library school programs. Because this is such an amazing gift, we are puttting pictures of it on a separate page, click here. Second: We are starting a new tradition - called the Abenaki Sprititual Week, which will be held during the 5 days between our Craft Show and Pow Wow. There is also a separate page for this, because we want to be able to update it as quickly as plans firm up and teachers and elders commit to helping teach. For events of this very special week, click here. Third: We are working to fill out the selections in our Museum book store and gift shop. We have several books/ booklets already in production and through the summer we will be finishing and printing several others. There are books and booklets for all ages. We started wth a Children's book which combines early Abenaki language lessons with story telling and color pages. We have revised three "Woodland Books" which were a gift from another native group, We have a Sacred Wheel Teachings book, and our newest compilation, a Cook Book of Native American Recipes. - Yep, you guessed it - Separate page! Click here to see some of the books we have for sale. We are located in Evansville, Vermont by the beautiful Willoughby River. Our office is located at 123 Evansville Road, Brownington, Vermont. On Route 58 East - out of Orleans, Exit 26 off I-91. Our phone number is 802-754-2817. We are fortunate to have the dedicated use of private lands on which to present our Clan's programs. These grounds are considered very special to the Clan of the Hawk. It is a very spiritual location with it own welcome cabin, medicine wheel, large labyrinth, non-denominational chapel and new, growing museum. The energy level here is very high. People from all walks of life are welcome here at all times. Visitors have shared with us that they find the grounds peaceful and relaxing, meditative and contemplative. We have held many spiritual ceremonies here including naming ceremonies, weddings and funerals. We have frequent pot luck suppers and simple friend-gatherings.
Volunteers built a Museum on the grounds to house our interesting and diverse museum collection. We have a large Thrift Store on the grounds which has a dazzling array of used, antique and collectible items. Our Native American Craft Shop is a one of a kind for this area, featuring finshed beadwork, leather work, walking sticks, dream catchers, leather and beading supplies for craft workers and much, much more. Open all summer, later by appointment. With the help of a grant from Vermont Links Organization, the members of the Clan made their own Drum using two moose hides and a large cedar core. Many hours went into this. | Please note: The site counter to the right has a link to an advertiser not 'endorsed' by the Clan of the Hawk. It's the sponsor of the free counter mechanism.
