Halfway through summer, and what is up with all this rain?

But we still had a great Native American Week -

About the Clan and Its Grounds

The Abenaki Clan of the Hawk, Inc. is a large, active group of Native Americans in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.

We are located in Evansville, Vermont by the beautiful Willoughby River.

Our office is located at 123 Evansville Road, Brownington, Vermont. On Route 58 East - out of Orleans, Exit 26 off I-91.

Our phone number is 802-754-2817.

Email us at etpvt@aol.com.

We are fortunate to have the dedicated use of  private lands on which to present our Clan's programs. These grounds are considered very special to the Clan of the Hawk. It is a very spiritual location with it own welcome cabin, medicine wheel,  labyrinth, non-denominational chapel and a new, rapidly growing museum. The energy level here is very high.

People from all walks of life are welcome here at all times. Visitors have shared with us that they find the grounds peaceful and relaxing, meditative and contemplative. We have held many spiritual ceremonies here including naming ceremonies, weddings and funerals.

We have frequent pot luck suppers and simple friend-gatherings.

After a long winter of recipe gathering, the first volume of NATIVE AMERICAN RECIPES  'rolled off the presses' ...and sold out!!

Don't worry, we had the second run done, just for you. You can get your copy by calling the Chief, or sending a note with a check. Click here for the page with the order information.

Did you know that volunteers built a Museum  on the grounds to house our interesting and diverse museum collection? Yup. Many examples of Native American tools, baskets, crafts.

We have a large Thrift Store on the grounds which has a dazzling array of used, antique and collectible items. Books, tools, furniture, housewares, computers. Clothes free to the needy.

Our Native American Craft Shop is a one of a kind for this area, featuring finshed beadwork, leather work, walking sticks, dream catchers, leather and beading supplies for craft workers and much, much more. Open all summer, later by appointment.

With the help of a grant from Vermont Links Organization, the members of the Clan made their own  Drum using two moose hides and a large cedar core.  Many hours went into this.
